TOUR de HOPE 2014 promises to be nothing less than spectacular.    The Hope Center once again is the impetus behind TOUR de HOPE.  We have changed our starting location to The Liberty Memorial.  The ride will take you to numerous places of interest in the Greater Kansas City area.  The King of the Mountain (KOM) course has been tweaked this year to offer those who like to punish themselves more pain and misery.  The after party promises to be everything you have come to expect from the creators of TOUR de HOPE.

Showcasing the Hope Center became a priority of this year’s ride.  All routes will have their first SAG at the Hope Center.  We encourage everyone to refuel themselves at this stop; The Hope Center is an amazing charity that the local community desperately needed. This stop will give you a glimpse of their impact on this neighborhood.

In order to allow every route to experience the Hope Center, we have changed our starting location to one of Kansas City’s jewels:  The Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri located just west of Main Street on 26th Street.  We will begin our ride in the circle drive of this beautiful structure that houses the only World War I museum in the country.

Kansas City is a diverse Midwestern city.  Our ride will take you to multiple points of interest.  Immediately upon leaving The Liberty Memorial our ride will take you past Kansas City’s Union Station.  From there you will experience the Jazz district and scenic Cliff Drive (if you have never ridden this section of Kansas City, you are in for a treat).  Depending upon your choice of distance, this is just the beginning. On the longer routes you will experience Swope Park which is the largest park in the metro area and one of Kansas City’s prize jewels.  Then it is on to Blue River Road, another biker’s paradise; if you are a cyclist, this road is one you should experience.  We take you out south to Martin City, west over to Kansas passing through Leawood, Overland Park, Prairie Village, Mission, and Kansas City, Kansas.  Then it is back to Missouri and home.

If you are a KOM rider, the ride should live up to its name.  We have eight KOMs this year.  Within the first ten miles you will experience three KOMs.  KOM # 7 is our favorite this year and by far the most difficult.  It will test your stamina.  Every year we must have a brick King of the mountain.  This year KOM # 8 will feature our signature brick road climb.

The post ride celebration will be on the South East lawn immediately in front of the Liberty Memorial.  This year’s party will feature music, a Beer Fest with local microbrews, along with great food so you can celebrate your accomplishment.

Please join us Sunday May 4th, 2014 at the Liberty Memorial for the Third annual TOUR de HOPE.  Enjoy all the scenery that Kansas City has to offer and support The Hope Center which is a deserving local charity.  After the ride, sit back, relax, and replenish those carbs!!!
